The Institute for Faith and Gender Empowerment (IFAGE) is registered in Kenya as a non-governmental organization (NGO) working on gender justice and equality in sub-Saharan Africa through advocacy and empowerment programs targeting women and girls, religious and faith groups, community leadership, and youth organizations.
IFAGE identity and strategy is to harness the potential of faith groups and religious communities in sub-Saharan Africa in order to address and transform harmful social gender norms that are the root causes of sexual and gender-based violence, injustices, and inequalities deeply entrenched in the socio-cultural, religious, political, and economic institutions that continue to oppress, disempower, and endanger the lives of many women and girls in the society, based on gender.
Our Aim is to advocate for gender justice and equality in the sub-Saharan Africa, by addressing and transforming harmful social gender norms rooted in cultural and religious practices, causing violence against women and girls based on gender.
We seek to empower and to transform local communities through integrated gender justice and equality programs—by targeting women leaders, religious groups, and community youth organizations regarding gender justice and equality from a faith perspective.
IFAGE envisions a society where men and women are equal and free from sexual and gender-based violence.
